The Ministry of Investments and European Projects has worked intensively in recent weeks to finalize proposals to modify the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) so that the money from the 4th payment request – 5.7 billion euros to enter the country this year, the investments minister, Marcel Bolos, informed on Wednesday.

„The fact that we have an interim government does not mean that the country is on standby. The real risk would be to stay put. In recent weeks, the team of the Ministry of Investments and European Projects has worked intensively, together with all the institutions in charge for reforms and investments, to finalize the proposals for modifying the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. We have formulated detailed specifications, responded promptly to the observations of the European Commission and based each proposal on the real needs on the ground and on the implementation constraints, so that the implementation of the PNRR can move forward. We are fighting to complete the renegotiation and for the money from the 4th payment request, in the restructured form, 5.7 billion euros, to enter the country this year. It means vital investments for people: infrastructure, education, health, local development,” Bolos wrote on Facebook.

He pointed out that there are permanent technical meetings with representatives of the European Commission, emphasising that including today „there were hours of online discussions.”

„We are not neglecting Cohesion Policy either, where in a few months we have launched calls for 1.18 billion euros, money that goes directly to development projects. I will present this in a separate post. The proposed changes are not a simple revision of documents. They are meant to optimize the use of funds, so that Romania benefits to the maximum from the grants and loans available,” the Minister of Investments and European Projects said.

Bolos added that he will go to Brussels next week, and will later publicly present the conclusions of the discussions.

„Next week we will go to Brussels and, as usual, I will publicly present the conclusions of the discussions and what the next steps are. It would be unfair to the work of dozens of people who, for months, have been keeping up the intense pace of the negotiations, to say that the future of the PNRR is on pause,” Marcel Bolos also wrote on the social media page.
