Iohannis: Drug use, very worrying, introduction of tests in schools is an option

It is a very worrying fact that young people consume prohibited substances, President Klaus Iohannis said on Tuesday, after visiting the persons injured in the fires that took place in Crevedia, Dambovita County, on Saturday evening, admitted at the Bucharest Floreasca Emergency Clinical Hospital, write Agerpres.

He said that one option would be to introduce drug tests in schools.

„It is a worrisome fact, very worrisome that we have more and more signals that there are students who consume prohibited substances. And then it is an option to try introducing tests, of course, with the consent of the parents, etc. But we cannot sit and observe the phenomenon and do nothing. So something must be found, in the sense of educating to prevent drug use, but also being firmer and detecting those who do not understand the good word,” said the head of state.

The president said that in reference to the case of the drugged 19-year-old driver who barreled into a group of students in the 2 Mai seaside resort, killing two, on 19 August.
