President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday sent a message of solidarity with the American people following the mid-air collision above Washington between the American Airlines passenger plane and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter.

„We stand by the American people in these difficult times, following the tragic plane and military helicopter crash in Washington, DC. Our thoughts go to the families of the victims,” the head of state wrote on X platform.

An American Airlines plane with 64 people on board and a military helicopter crashed Wednesday evening into the Potomac River, after a collision above Washington. Extremely difficult search operations have been launched.
