The chairman of the Social Democratic Party, PM Marcel Ciolacu, said on Tuesday that the never-say-never approach to politics is correct, but there is usually a „red line” in this regard.

The prime minister’s statement came in the context in which the National Liberal Party (PNL) chairman, Nicolae Ciuca, declared on Sunday about a collaboration with Save Romania Union (USR) that any option is on the table, specifying that, since he entered politics, he has learned one thing, namely that in politics never say never.

„I think I also heard Mr. Nicolae Ciuca that you should never say never in politics, that he learned this since he became a politician. Correct. It is the correct approach, but usually there is also a red line. After you had a performance, which you had, PNL with USR, for eight months, when PSD, which had won the elections, had to come to put the economy and the country back in the right direction, because we were also losing European funds, we were also in the social crisis and in the energy crisis, they were constantly arguing in the Government, if we want to remember those eight months lost by the Romanians, because someone was ambitious so that the PSD would make the proposal for prime minister, because it had won the elections. (…) Isn’t the majority in the General Council of the Capital, and we have these historical performances in all of Bucharest, made by PNL-USR? Wasn’t it the majority in Sector 1? My opinion is that we have to think carefully when we move forward, never say never,” said Ciolacu, for DC News.

Marcel Ciolacu stated that every effort must be made for the current governing coalition to continue after this year’s elections because „Romania needs strong political stability”.
