Jan – Aug turnover of motor vehicle trade up 3.9% YoY, in Romania

The turnover of trade in motor vehicles and motorcycles over January – August 2022 was 3.9 percent up in unadjusted terms from the same period of 2021, while the turnover for market services provided to the population increased by 30 percent, shows data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), according to Agerpres.

The advance of the turnover of wholesale and retail trade, and the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles was the result of growth in the trade in motorcycles, parts and related accessories; motorcycle maintenance and repair (+7.3 percent), trade in motor vehicle parts and accessories (+6.5 percent), trade in motor vehicles (+3.1 percent), and motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities (+1.1 percent).

Expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted series, the turnover for wholesale and retail trade, and the maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 2.6 percent.

The turnover for market services provided to the population over January – August 2022 was 30 percent higher YoY in unadjusted terms due to growth in the activity of travel agencies and tour operators (+38.4 pct), HoReCa activities (+32.3 pct), hairdressing services and other cosmetic activities (+23.2 pct), washing and dry cleaning of textiles and furs (+23.1 pct), gambling and other recreational activities (+22.5 pct).

In adjusted terms, the turnover for market services provided to the population in the reporting period was 34 percent higher YoY.
