Jan-Sep turnover of motor vehicle, motorcycle trade up 4.6% YoY

Turnover in the trade with motor vehicles and motorcycles increased, as unadjusted series, by 4.6% in the first nine months of the year compared to the same period last year, while the turnover in market services provided to the population rose by 26.7%, according to the data published on Wednesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres reports.

Thus, in the period January 1 – September 30, 2022 compared to the period January 1 – September 30, 2021, the turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, unadjusted series, recorded a turnover higher up by 4.6%, influenced by the increase in turnover in: the trade in motorcycles, spare parts and accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+6.6%), trade in motor vehicle spare parts and accessories (+6.4%), trade in motor vehicles (+4.4%) and motor vehicle maintenance and repair activities (+1.2 %).

In the period January 1 – September 30, 2022 compared to the period January 1 – September 30, 2021, the volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, increased by 3.4%.

The activity of market services provided to the population, as unadjusted series, in the period January 1 – September 30, 2022 recorded a 26.7% higher turnover compared to the period January 1 – September 30, 2021, influenced by the increase in turnover in: the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (+36.3%), the activities of hotels and restaurants (+28.4%), hairdressing services and other beauty activities (+23.5%), washing and cleaning activities (dry) of textile articles and fur products (+21.6%) and gambling activities and other recreational activities (+20.1%).

The activity of market services provided to the population, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, in the period January 1 – September 30, 2022, recorded a 30.9% higher turnover compared to the period January 1 -30 September 2021.

INS data show that turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as unadjusted series, in September 2022, compared to the previous month, registered an increase of 8.9%, due to the increases recorded in the trade in motor vehicles (+13.6%), the trade in spare parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+4.8%) and in the activities of maintenance and repair of motor vehicles (+4.7%).

Trade in motorcycles, spare parts and accessories; motorcycle maintenance and repair decreased by 13.5%. The total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, in September 2022, compared to the previous month, registered an increase of 1.1%.

With regard to the market services provided to the population, as unadjusted series, in September 2022, compared to the previous month, the volume of turnover recorded a decrease of 15.5%, as a result of the decreases recorded in the activities of hotels and restaurants (-19 .7%), activities of travel agencies and tour operators (-8.6%), washing and (dry) cleaning activities of textiles and fur products (-6.1%) and gambling activities and other recreational activities (-4.6%). Hairdressing services and other beauty activities increased by 1.2%.

Turnover from the market services provided to the population, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, in September 2022, compared to the previous month, registered a decrease of 2.7%.

Also, the total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as unadjusted series, in September 2022, compared to September 2021, registered an increase of 10.2%, due to the increases recorded in the trade in motor vehicles (+15.3%), the trade in spare parts and accessories for motor vehicles (+6.1%), the maintenance and repair activities of motor vehicles (+1.5%) and the trade in motorcycles, spare parts and related accessories; maintenance and repair of motorcycles (+1.3%).

The total volume of turnover in wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, in September 2022, registered an increase of 9.1% compared to September 2021.

The activity of market services provided to the population, as unadjusted series, in September 2022, recorded a 6.8% higher turnover compared to September 2021, due to the increases recorded in hairdressing services and other beauty services (+27.5%), the activities of travel agencies and tour operators (+22.6%), the activities of washing and (dry) cleaning of textile articles and products from fur (+12.3%), hotel and restaurant activities (+5.6%) and gambling and other recreational activities (+4.7%).

The activity of market services provided to the population, as workday and seasonally adjusted series, in September 2022 increased by 13.6%, compared to September 2021.
