The presidents of the US, Joe Biden, and China, Xi Jinping, met on Monday in Bali (Indonesia), on the occasion of the G20 summit, this being their first bilateral meeting since the election of the American president a year ago, in an attempt to to renew the dialogue between the two major powers despite the tensions, particularly strong regarding the status of the island of Taiwan, AFP reports, Agerpres reads.
The two leaders shook hands in front of the press in a hotel on the island of Bali, on the eve of the G20 summit, at the beginning of a meeting that takes place against the background of several topics that place the two countries on different positions, among which Beijing’s refusal to to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, trade, the human rights situation in Xinjiang or the file related to North Korea.
