The change of paradigm as far as service pensions are concerned will bring fairness into the system, considers Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu, write Agerpres.
„This reform must happen, this change of paradigm in terms of service pensions will become visible very soon, with concrete effects. We will have a fair system, spelling out that the pension cannot be (…) higher than the salary, and we’ll see what the Constitutional Court decides,” Alina Gorghiu told television broadcaster Digi 24 on Thursday evening.
She mentioned that her goal is to keep in place a body of magistrates with a sound expertise, capable of delivering an act of justice in line with the citizen’s expectations.
„We have hellishly long deadlines, we have little access to justice, a rigid justice, with an inconsistent jurisprudence, which is why I think that we need to consider how to preserve quality resources within the system, not try to send them immediately into retirement. (…) A transition period is absolutely necessary for this vital sector for Romania. We are talking about the judiciary, about the service called justice, but also about defense, security, public order. If, in this context, we depopulate these two sectors that are essential for Romania, we have another problem, the act of justice will no longer be efficient, service quality will suffer,” Minister Gorghiu pointed out.
