The minister of justice, Alina Gorghiu, believes that there is „no reason” for the PNL (National Liberal Party) not to win the presidential elections with Nicolae Ciuca again this year, recalling that 10 years ago the Liberals „defeated by far” the PSD (Social Democratic Party).
„Although in the first round the PSD prime minister candidate back then had 40 percent and a million more votes, we defeated PSD by far in 2014. And I am sure, my dear Liberals, that the same thing will happen this year, because Romania does not need populism. Romania doesn’t need big smiles, presented every day, but without a project, it doesn’t need to live at risk. Romania (…) needs certainty, sincerity and, yes, security. Therefore, there is no reason for us not to win the presidential elections this year, because we have the right candidate,” said Gorghiu, on Sunday, at the PNL National Council meeting, dedicated to validating the candidacy of the Liberal leader, Nicolae Ciuca, in the presidential elections.
The minister of justice, who presented the Resolution regarding the safety of families, young people and women, unanimously approved by the delegates present at the Parliament Palace, recalled a series of normative acts adopted in the last period.
„Allow me to thank you, the National Council, because the first item on today’s agenda is this important Resolution. Today is not only about completing the procedure for nominating the PNL candidate for the presidential elections, but it is about the party that gives families in Romania the feeling of protection, of safety, the guarantee that families are protected. Nicolae Ciuca is the one who will take responsibility for the safety of families, of young people, of women as a priority. PNL is the only party in Romania that has done concrete things in this regard. We have taken measures that have not been taken in the last 35 years to combat drug trafficking, help addicted users, eliminate forms of violence, support victims of crimes, ensuring safety in the school environment, legal education of young people, combating aggression and sexual harassment, safety on public roads,” Alina Gorghiu pointed out.
