Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu: We will increase Romania’s actrativeness for investors through Schengen accession

Published on

The Minister of Justice, Alina Gorghiu, believes that accession to Schengen will increase Romania’s attractiveness for investors.

„Through this accession to Schengen, we will increase the attractiveness of Romania for investors. It will bring, in the long term, a greater flow of tourists, and this will mean additional income for Romania,” Alina Gorghiu stated on Saturday, after the regional conference „Europe in Each Locality,” organized in Pitesti by the youth organization of the National Liberal Party (PNL).

She emphasised that our country had been meeting the technical criteria for accession for a long time.

„Romania has been preparing for this moment for years (…) From a technical point of view, we were very well prepared. Of course, the postponement of this decision had political objections from certain states, but I’m glad that we managed to have this success. (…) I assure you that the EPP will continue to support us to join the land borders as well,” Alina Gorghiu also said.

Romania will join the Schengen Area in the night between Saturday and Sunday, as of 12.00 am, with its air and sea borders.
