Kelemen Hunor: Romania needs the support of young families to have a balanced society

Published on

The Romanian society needs the support of young families, it needs the support of those who raise children, otherwise we will not have a balanced society, and the government supports the increase in the birth rate in Romania through the programmes it develops, states Deputy Prime Minister Kelemen Hunor, Agerpres reports.

He participated, on Tuesday, at the Victoria Palace, alongside the Prime Minister, Nicolae Ciuca, and the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Marcel Ciolacu, in the signing of the joint order regarding the approval of the norms of application of the „Social Programme of national interest to support couples and single persons, for the increase of the birth rate” belonging to the Minister of the Family, Gabriela Firea, and the Minister of Labour, Marius Budai.

„I want to congratulate Minister Firea and thank my colleagues in the government, all those who were and remain with us to support families, to support the increase in the birth rate, because together we came to the conclusion that Romania, the Romanian society has a huge problem and if we want to solve it in the long term, there is no solution from one year to the next, we have to implement complex programmes. And we are doing this and we will continue to do it,” said Kelemen Hunor.

He underscored that people and couples who have infertility problems deserve the support of the state.

„The state should not expect help from them, they expect help from the state, from the state institutions, from the Ministry of Health, from the Ministry of Family, from the Ministry of Labour. And this help will come at this moment through this ongoing programme by the Government of Romania,” stated Kelemen Hunor.

He also said that the state is ready to support, in the future, other programmes in the field.

„Of course, we will see during the following years where we will have to make corrections and if there is a need to correct and add, be sure that we will also support these changes and we will come up with other projects, other programmes, for Romania needs the support of young families, it needs the support of those who raise children, otherwise we will not have a balanced society and we will end up in a situation where there will be an even greater imbalance regarding the ages in society and we do not want this. And we still have time, but not too much time at our disposal to try to help young people and young families, and we will continue to do so,” Kelemen Hunor said.
