UDMR President Kelemen Hunor said on Friday, while presenting his political report before the UDMR Council of Representatives (CRU), that the party he leads wants to be in government, but it may also end up in opposition, something that does not frighten him.
‘In the period ahead, I cannot promise you today that UDMR will be able to take part in government in 2026, in the coming months. We may go into opposition. That does not scare me; I believe that, for nation-building, opposition can be a new opportunity. But we want to be part of a government that is capable of putting the country in order, of finding good solutions to the country’s problems and, at the end of the mandate, at the end of the government cycle, of being able to say that we have succeeded in carrying out what we committed to in the 2024 election campaign, even if not in full, at least to a large extent (…) I continue to believe that our strength lies in unity and our future in the community,’ Kelemen Hunor said.
He added that among UDMR’s governing objectives is to have a state that spends more in order to provide better services to citizens, with a budget that gives all Romanians a sense of perspective, so that they can plan a future in Romania.
The UDMR Council of Representatives (CRU) is meeting on Friday in Cluj-Napoca, where the party’s president, Kelemen Hunor, is presenting a political report.
