LabMin Oprescu: Local public administration reforms are key reforms for people’s lives

Published on

Local public administration reforms are key reforms for people’s lives, increasing their confidence and developing Romania, Labour Minister Simona Bucura-Oprescu said on Monday at the Summit of Romania’s Municipal Public Authorities, according to a ministry’s social media post on Monday.

„We want a more efficient public administration and closer to the citizens, and that can only be achieved through public policies made correctly starting from the needs of the grassroots. The mayors of the municipalities in Romania are the local elected officials with the highest number of votes, which shows, in equal measure, a high degree of trust, but also a degree of expectation of the citizens to match.

„Reforms must continue in Romania, and local public administration reforms are key reforms for people’s lives, increasing their confidence and developing Romania. The Ministry of Labour and Social Solidarity is and will remain a partner and supporter of mayors!”

The Summit of Romania’s Municipal Public Authorities is an event that brings together mayors, leaders of local public administrations and government representatives to debate and find solutions to strengthen local public administration.

During the event, solutions were sought for sustainable multiannual budgeting, legislative stability and predictability, the way in which European funds are managed, as well as social and wage policies.
