Last year’s construction volume up 12.9% compared to 2021

The volume of construction works in 2022 was 12.9 percent higher in unadjusted terms compared to 2021, and 10.8 percent up expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted terms, shows data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), Agerpres informs.

The structural elements to see growth in unadjusted terms in the previous year were capital repair works (+25.7 pct), current maintenance and repair works (+20.2 pct) and new construction works (+8.9 pct).

By construction objects, the volume of non-residential buildings went up 21.8 percent, the volume of engineering works advanced 13.2 percent, and that of residential buildings was up 4.8 percent.

Expressed as workday and seasonally adjusted series, capital repair works advanced 18.5 percent, current maintenance and repair works were up 17.5 percent, and new construction works increased 7.5 percent. By construction objects, there was growth in the volume of non-residential buildings (+20.5 percent), engineering works (+7.2 percent), and residential buildings (+4.8 percent).

In December 2022, the volume of construction works was 14.2 percent higher in unadjusted terms compared to November 2022, and 0.3 percent down when adjusted for business days and seasonality.

In unadjusted terms, the volume of current maintenance and repair works was 30.6 percent higher in December compared to November 2022, capital repair works advanced by 21.2 percent, and new construction works increased 7.1 percent.

By construction objects, the volume of engineering works was up 20.8 percent, that of non-residential buildings advanced 8.0 percent and the volume of residential buildings was up 7.9 percent.

When adjusted for business days and seasonality, December’s new construction works were 4.5 percent down compared to the month before, capital repair works dipped 0.4 percent, while current maintenance and repair works advanced 12.2 percent.

By construction objects, the volume of residential buildings dropped by 6.1 percent, that of non-residential buildings fell 5.7 percent, while engineering works advanced 3.5 percent.

Year-over-year, the volume of construction works was 15.1 percent higher in unadjusted terms in December 2022, with capital repair works advancing by 34.7 percent, maintenance and current repair works growing 29.6 percent, and new construction works going up 7 percent.

By construction objects, non-residential buildings were 19.8 percent up, engineering works advanced 19.2 percent, and the volume of residential buildings increased 1 percent.

When adjusted for business days and seasonality, the volume of construction works was 19.1 percent higher overall in December 2022, with growth in capital repair works (+43.3 percent), current maintenance and repair works (+28.8 percent), and new construction works (+14.3 percent).

By construction objects, there was an across-the-board growth in the volume of construction works: non-residential buildings (+24.1 percent), engineering works (+22 percent) and residential buildings (+4.8 percent).
