The national currency depreciated on Wednesday against the euro, which was quoted by the National Bank of Romania (BNR) at 5.2688 lei, up 5.08 bani (+0.97%) from the previous rate of 5.2180 lei, reaching a new all-time high.
The leu also lost ground against the U.S. dollar, which was quoted at 4.4746 lei, up 1.02 bani (+0.2%) compared to Tuesday, when it stood at 4.4644 lei.
The national currency also depreciated against the Swiss franc, calculated by the NBR at 5.7429 lei, up 4.55 bani (0.8%) from the previous rate of 5.6974 lei.
The price of a gram of gold rose to 676.0740 lei, from 653.5812 lei in the previous session.
