The social democrats must decide for the next three months whether they want an efficient government or „a political war,” the PNL spokesman, Ionut Stroe, who believes that the statements made by the PSD (Social Democratic Party) MEP Mihai Tudose concerning a possible collaboration with the „extremist party AUR [Alliance for the Union of Romanians]” are worrying.
He made these statements in the context in which he was asked, in a press conference, how he commented on the statements of the Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura Oprescu, regarding the fact that the pensions were increased by the PSD, in no case by another party.
„Ms. Bucura Oprescu should show the same ease when it comes to correcting the problems that were generated by the way in which this law was applied, good by the way, but unfortunately that generated a lot of frustration, nervousness, a lot of situations in which people went to the pension houses because certain rights that they had were cut off when this law came into force. If we look statistically at what happened in the past couple of years, we can see as clearly as possible that those waves of pension increases are associated with periods of Liberal government (…) It is unfair to do this when you are in a governing coalition, but the election campaign makes many people say such things, such as Mrs. Simona Bucura Oprescu, who assumes the pension increase in her personal name or that of the PSD,” explained Stroe.
According to him, „there are things that negatively influence the government.”
„All these expressions, all these challenges, all these attacks negatively influence the government and, by the way, what is happening at the moment is clear to everyone. You cannot have an efficient government and a political war at the same time. So the PSD should think very carefully and decide what they want for the next three months, because we have an election campaign. They want to fight politically or they want an efficient government,” the Liberal emphasized.
Asked how he sees a PSD-AUR alliance, Ionut Stroe expressed his hope that such a scenario will not materialize.
