Liz Truss beat Rishi Sunak to become Britain’s new prime minister, after Boris Johnson resigned. The leader of the Conservative party, the third U.K. Prime Minister in just over three years, will have to tackle one of Europe’s worst energy crises.

„As Prime Minister, I will unleash Britain’s potential by going for growth and removing the obstacles holding our country back. A growing economy is key to delivering for the British people and unlocking opportunity”, Lizz Truss told The Telegraph.

Following his loss in the final Conservative leadership ballot, former finance minister Rishi Sunak wrote on Facebook: „Thank you to everyone who voted for me in this campaign. I’ve said throughout that the Conservatives are one family. It’s right we now unite behind the new PM, Liz Truss, as she steers the country through difficult times.”
