Luca Niculescu: We have successfully completed all the OECD evaluations planned for 2024

Published on

All the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) evaluations planned for 2024 have been successfully completed, namely 12 out of 12, announced on Thursday Luca Niculescu, Secretary of State within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) and National Coordinator for Romania’s accession process to the OECD.

„I am happy to announce today that we have successfully completed all the OECD evaluations we had planned for 2024, 12 out of 12. We received the last two Formal Opinions from those expected, from the Fisheries Committee and the Health Committee. Many thanks to my colleagues from the institutions involved! There are many, and there are many of them,” Luca Niculescu wrote on his Facebook page.

He underscored that there are still 13 Committees to close, and if the current pace is maintained, Romania will join the OECD in 2026.

„We are halfway through. We still have 13 Committees to close. And, if we maintain the pace so far, we will enter the OECD in 2026, as we planned. Of course, there will be more challenges because there are complex dossiers, and the OECD requirements are well-known. But as someone said, too easy roads usually lead nowhere,” Niculescu wrote on his social media page, mentioning that he learned of the last two opinions while at the OECD, „during discussions for the evaluations of the year that has just begun.”
