Ludovic Orban announces his presidential candidacy

National leader of the Right Force Ludovic Orban on Monday announced his presidential candidacy in this year’s election on behalf of an alliance of the People’s Movement Party (PMP) and the Right Force.

„Today I am announcing to the citizens of Romania that I have taken the decision to enter the competition for President of Romania. I took the decision to run for president because I consider it a moral obligation I have towards the Romanian citizens and a gesture of responsibility towards the future of Romania. I have a political career of over 30 years in which I have climbed step by step on almost all the positions of public dignity where I have been able to serve the citizens, from that of local councillor to that of prime minister, to that of speaker of the Chamber of Deputies. I am a man who has served the public interest and who has been at the disposal of the citizens who have placed their trust in me for over 30 years (…),” Orban said at the Parliament House.

He added that his entire career is one of work, of effort, a career in which he never chose the „beaten path”, but the right one.

„I want my candidacy to mean a message of trust and hope in the future of our country and in the chance of every Romanian to succeed in life with their peers. Romania is a beautiful country, a country with wonderful people, it is a country that has a huge potential for development, but, unfortunately, it is a country that has been held back by people without love for the country, by people who have won the vote and the trust of the population through lies and who have mocked the hopes of the people in exercising their mandates. In the architecture of power in Romania, the position of president is the most important function in the Romanian state, and the president is the one who gives the direction, he is the one who can harness all the energies of the nation, he is the one who can lead Romania towards a vision of development that allows each Romanian to live much better through their own efforts, through their own merits and through the recognition of fairness and work.’
