The president of the Right’s Force, Ludovic Orban, expressed on Sunday evening his doubts that the exit-poll results would reflect the choices of Romanians, reports Agerpres.
In a joint press conference held with USR leader Cătălin Drulă and PMP president Eugen Tomac, he criticised the lack of debate on the European Parliament elections.
„Today the governing coalition achieved a score it never dreamed of, for one reason. We did not have elections to the European Parliament during this election campaign because of the unconstitutional merging of local elections with elections to the European Parliament. The whole campaign there was no debate about the European Parliament, about Romania’s position and representation in the European Parliament, about what Romania’s representatives in the European Parliament should do. Today’s score, which we are not sure that this is the score, because we have to confess to you that during the day there were extremely strange things about the one exit-poll that is released today… we are waiting for the real results and we are convinced that the real results will differ from the results that are presented today on the small screens,” Orban said.
He noted that „the real battle will be in the presidential and parliamentary elections”.
At the same time, the Right Force leader expressed his conviction that the PSD will not succeed in giving the next president of Romania. He also stressed that the United Right Alliance will fight „with all its strength” alongside Romanians who want freedom, democracy and „who do not accept to stay under the heel” of „political imposters who want to destroy” democracy.
„Today I have the courage to tell Romanians not to lose hope, to trust in democracy. Today’s PSDNL score is the score obtained by the red and yellow barons, by the satraps and the cowboys who run the town halls and who have done everything possible, using all levers, including illegal ones to maximize the score of the two political parties. Romania’s political reality is completely different. 70% of Romanian citizens are dissatisfied with the way Romania is governed. 67% believe that Romania is heading in the wrong direction. Ciucă and Ciolacu’s score in the presidential elections is below 30%, because of this serious loss of credibility of these two political impostors who are just administrators of armies that have nothing to do with democracy”, Orban added.
The PSD-PNL coalition’s list of candidates for the European parliamentary elections won 54% of the votes, while the AUR candidates won 14% of the vote and the United Right Alliance (ADU) candidates – 11%, according to the results of the CURS-Avangarde exit poll. The Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania also obtained 5%.
