Ludovic Orban, leader of the Forța Dreptei party and a former adviser to President Nicușor Dan, said in an appearance on B1 TV that he is disappointed in him one year after he took office as President of Romania. The former prime minister accused the current head of state of refusing to take on major objectives and said he is too complacent.
Orban says that if he had been able to anticipate what Nicușor Dan would do in his first year in office, he would no longer have voted for him. He said he was extremely disappointed in the current president because he had placed his trust in him.
“If there were elections now, after one year of Nicușor Dan’s term, and if I had known what Nicușor Dan would do in his first year in office, I wouldn’t have gone to vote. I wouldn’t have voted for him. I wouldn’t have voted for Antonescu, neither for Simion nor for Ponta, but I wouldn’t have voted for him. I’m sorry. I’m so disappointed, because I trusted him. I hoped he would play fair,” Ludovic Orban said in an appearance on B1 TV.
In his remarks, Ludovic Orban explained that the president refused to take on major objectives, to crack down on those who steal, abuse power or try to preserve their privileges. In this regard, the former prime minister criticised Nicușor Dan for being complacent.
“From the very start he refused to fight. He refused to truly take on major objectives. He refused to put in their place those who steal, those who abuse power, those who try to preserve their privileges. No. Nicușor Dan, a complacent president.”
The former Liberal leader said that the head of state gets along with PSD and behaves badly towards the parties close to him, USR and PNL. Ludovic Orban says Nicușor Dan has chosen a conflictual stance in his relations with PNL and USR, although these are, in his view, the parties that should have been part of a partnership for reform, modernisation and the reduction of privileges.
“He gets along with PSD so as not to have any problems. But little by little he is starting to antagonise and treat badly precisely those who are truly closest to him, namely USR and PNL. At present, Nicușor Dan has ended up in a conflictual position with PNL and USR, the parties that should have been part of a partnership for reform, modernisation and for reducing privileges.
