Ludovic Orban: The Right Force will continue to run against PSD in presidential, parliamentary elections

Published on

The Right Force will continue its „battle with the Social Democratic Party (PSD)” and will fight so that the PSD candidate will not win the presidential election, Right Force national leader Ludovic Orban said on Tuesday.

„As far as the strategy for the presidential and parliamentary elections is concerned, the Right Force is a liberal, centre-right party, a party that continues the battle with PSD and that will fight with all its might to prevent a PSD candidate from winning the presidential election. It will continue to fight with all legal, constitutional and political weapons to ensure the success of a democratic candidate, a centre-right candidate, a candidate who will lead Romania in the right direction,” Orban said.

The National Council of the right-of-centre Right Force Party has mandated a negotiating team led by Orban to hold talks with centre-right political parties, first of all with the People’s Movement Party (PMP), in an attempt to prevent the continuation of a PSD government.

„We will also hold discussions with other parties from the centre-right pool to try to find a formula for the presidential and parliamentary elections, which will give us a chance to represent the Right Force and, in general, the political parties from the centre-right pool, in order to prevent the continuation of a government by the PSD,” Ludovic Orban also said.

Asked if he will also negotiate with the National Liberal Party (PNL), Orban said: „If they are willing to break out of their coalition with PSD. Obviously, we can start discussions even with PNL.”

He explained that the MPs of the Right Force were mandated to hold talks in order to initiate a motion of censure against the Ciolacu Government, given that there are serious misunderstandings in the coalition.

„If PNL really wants to break away from PSD, it can participate in supporting and voting on a motion of censure that would lead to the fall of the Ciolacu government.”
