Ludovic Orban: We have decided to challenge amendments to Fiscal Code at Constitutional Court

Published on

Right Force Party national leader Ludovic Orban declared on Sunday, at Baile Felix, Bihor County, that Right Force Party, together with Save Romania Union (USR), decided to challenge at the Constitutional Court the amendments to the Fiscal Code, Agerpres reports.

„It is incomprehensible that the current Government should decide to increase taxation in the conditions in which, as a result of inflation, they received more than 53 billion RON in addition to the state budget. Why do they need extra money? Why they should take extra money from the citizen, after reaching deep into his pocket through inflation, which is actually a tax, is incomprehensible,” former Prime Minister Ludovic Orban told a press conference.

He specified that the representatives of this party in Parliament voted against the increase in taxation and notified the Ombudsman after the issuance of the emergency ordinance regarding the increase in taxation, but, „unfortunately, it was demonstrated that the Ombudsman is the Government’s Ombudsman, not the people’s.”

The former prime minister also complained that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) broke their electoral promises, when, in the electoral campaign, not only did they not say a word about the increase in duties, taxes and contributions, but, on the contrary, they promised not to increase them . Nevertheless, Ludovic Orban pointed out, through the amendments to the Fiscal Code, the current Government increases taxation for the entire dynamic part of society, to which is added the „absurdity of taxing part-time contracts”.

„We therefore decided that the only way to be able to stop the entry into force of this Fiscal Code which, in practice, will put a brake on economic development and will discourage Romanians who have initiative in the economy, we decided to challenge at the Constitutional Court for violations of to some constitutional provisions, such as economic freedom, equal tax treatment, equality before the law, the right to work, etc.,” said Ludovic Orban.

The Right Force party leader Ludovic Orban was in Bihor County on Sunday, together with members of the National Political Bureau, to participate in the launch event of the branch in Bihor.

The county organization Bihor Right Force is led by entrepreneur Daniel Rosca, with Laurentiu Andrei secretary general, and has almost 60 registered members.

According to leader Rosca, in the near future the women’s organization of the Bihor Right Force will also be registered, and the youth organization is also being formed.
