MEP Luis Lazarus, speaking in the plenary session of the European Parliament, on the sovereignty of each EU Member State: You got involved in our elections and imposed on us who to put in office. You appointed a governor. I am here to tell you that you have not yet become the United States of Europe, and we do not need a governor. Romania needs a president who must be democratically elected! says Lazarus.
„The sovereignty of Europe—there is no such thing as the sovereignty of Europe, there is only the sovereignty of each state that makes up the European Union, which is slightly different from Europe. In this context, I would like to ask you the following question. If the sovereignty of a single state is affected, is not the sovereignty of Europe also affected, according to your logic?
Doesn’t the European Commission always act in violation of the sovereignty of many states that make up the European Union? For example, when it came to the pandemic. You forced us to buy vaccines worth millions, hundreds of millions, and billions. Economically, you control everything we do. Deficit limits and, of course, all aspects of production, export, and import. You even force us to pay taxes, VAT, and so on. Then, now, with SAFE, you dictate how much we should borrow and what we should do with the money.
You interfered in our elections and dictated who we should put in office. You appointed a governor. I am telling you that you have not yet become the United States of Europe and we do not need a governor. I am telling you that Romania needs a president who must be democratically elected. And on the digital front, since we were talking about digital, I think that is what you want to control,” says MEP Luis Lazarus.
