MAE: Romania’s Embassy in Washington carries out constant dialogue with DoS, including on Visa Waiver

Published on

Romania’s Embassy in Washington carries out a constant dialogue with the Department of State, including on the Visa Waiver, the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) mentions in a clarification sent to the press on Thursday.

MAE reacts to „the emergence in the press of some erroneous statements and speculative manipulations regarding the Romania – U.S. relation.”

In this context, the Romanian ministry says Romania’s Embassy in Washington conducts a constant dialogue with the Department of State and other federal institutions in the U.S., aimed at advancing the joint projects of the Strategic Partnership.

„Contrary to the pieces of information circulated in viral online posts and tendentious articles, the meeting in question, with the Under Secretary for Political Affairs of the Department of State, is part of this regular dialogue and was requested by the Embassy. The discussion was aimed at ongoing projects in the defence and energy areas, as well as the possibilities to promote Romania’s objective of inclusion in the Visa Waiver Program,” the clarification sent by the Romanian Foreign Ministry also points out.
