The Deployable Communication Module „E” made up of six Romanian servicemen completed the mission within NATO Mission Iraq, the National Defence Ministry (MApN) informed on Wednesday, according to Agerpres.
During the past five months, the Romanian servicemen, alongside other members of the 2nd NATO Signal Battalion, ensured the communication and information support of NATO Mission Iraq command, the quoted source mentioned in a post on the Ministry’s Facebook page.
This is the servicemen’s second participation in the Iraq Theater of Operations, after the one from January-July 2021.
„The activity of the Romanian servicemen was very appreciated, taking into account their experience and professionalism, the communication and information support being vital for conducting the current activities and for the achievement of the missions’ objectives and tasks,” the MApN shows.
The Deployable Communication Module „E” was established on 1 August 2010, in the barracks of the 48th Strategic Communications and Informatics Center, being a structure at the military unit level included in 2nd NATO Signal Battalion.
Since its establishment and until now, the servicemen of the module have participated in the following NATO missions and operations: ISAF – Afghanistan (2012, 2014), Resolute Support – Afghanistan (2016 – 2018), Active Fence – Turkey (2014, 2016), NATO Support To Turkey (2017), as well as at many other exercises organized within NATO.
