MApN: Maritime drone in the Port of Constanta did not cause any casualties: it self-detonated at around 10.30 am

Published on

The Ministry of Defense announces that the maritime drone discovered this morning, June 5, in the Civil Port of Constanța, near the headquarters of the Romanian Agency for the Safety of Human Life at Sea, self-detonated around 10:30 a.m., without causing any casualties.

The area had already been secured and cordoned off by forces from the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Coast Guard, and the Ministry of National Defense; at that time, the object was undergoing assessment and being secured.

The maritime drone is of the type used in the war in Ukraine.

We would like to clarify that the object is not part of the Romanian Army’s inventory and was not involved in the recent exercises organized by the Ministry of National Defense in the Black Sea area.

The situation is evolving, and we will provide further information and official details as they become available.

The case is being investigated by the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Constanța Court of Appeal.
