Prime Minister and Social Democratic Party (PSD) Chairman Marcel Ciolacu on Wednesday sent an audio message to the PSD members announcing them his decision to run in the presidential elections.

„Hello, this is Marcel Ciolacu speaking. After I had consultations with many of you, I made the decision to run for Romania’s Presidency. I wanted you to find this out from me and not on television, as this decision will be debated on at the PSD Congress on Saturday,” Marcel Ciolacu told his party colleagues.

The Social Democrats’ leader voiced his conviction that the PSD would manage to win the presidential ballot this year.

„We have the best team for Romania, as we have shown in all elections over the past four years. I am certain that together we will manage to win back the Presidency office after 20 years,” Ciolacu said.

He announced his colleagues that he would present his plan for Romania at the PSD Congress on Saturday.

„I hope with all my heart that you would grant me the honour to fight on your and on Romanians’ behalf to win the presidential elections. Romania needs stability and balance. I count on all of you and I expect you to join our campaign. Thank you!,” Ciolacu also said.
