Marcel Ciolacu: Mandate entrusted to me today honors and obliges me, we are living complicated times.

Prime Minister-designate Marcel Ciolacu said on Monday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace that the mandate he received honors and obliges him, pointing out that one of the priorities of the Executive he will lead is to regain the trust of citizens.

„The mandate entrusted to me today honors and obliges me. We are living complicated times,” said the Social Democrat leader, after the announcement by President Klaus Iohannis.

Marcel Ciolacu added that the mandate of the next Executive will not be an easy one.

„I believe that we have all learned from the mistakes of the past. I hope that, together with my colleagues in the Coalition, we will find the best solutions to overcome the challenges we are facing. I am aware that this will not be an easy mandate. It is essential for this government to restore investor confidence and ensure a predictable business climate. We need to accelerate the reforms included in the PNRR, in order to reduce budget spending, and any surplus should be used for investments, as has been the case so far,” said the prime minister-designate.

Marcel Ciolacu added that „Romania has sent us a clear message – Romanians need stability, predictability, reforms and security and a government that will act putting the national interest first”.
