The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, will participate, on Friday and Saturday, in the 59th edition of the Munich Security Conference (MSC2023), a traditional annual event, focusing international security policies, and one of the most important forums for debates and exchanges of views on topical issues between decision-makers at the highest level, according to Agerpres.

The conference agenda, based including on the discussions held at the end of November 2022, in Bucharest, includes topics relevant for the present and future challenges of the international environment, in the context of the major implications of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine on European and Euro-Atlantic security and on the approaching anniversary of one year since its outbreak, shows a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) sent to Agerpres.

The head of the Romanian diplomacy will participate, as the main speaker, in a series of high-level events organized on the sidelines of the conference, which will address topics of increased complexity on the regional, European and Euro-Atlantic agenda, with an impact in the international political, economic and academic environments: round table „Security in the Black Sea Region: From Cyberstorm and Brinkmanship to Border Confrontation?” – organized on Friday by the think tanks New Strategy Centre and Centre for European Policy Analysis, the round table „Completing Europe in a Time of Conflict: The Three Seas Initiative and Europe’s Infrastructure Integration,” organized by the Atlantic Council, as well as at the debate on the situation in Ukraine „One Year Later: Ukraine’s Fight for Freedom and What’s Next,” organized by the Yalta European Strategy and the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, and also the panel „Breaking the Vicious Circle: Mapping views on the exit strategy for post-Putin Russia,” organized by the Warsaw Security Forum and the International Centre for Ukrainian Victory.

During the debates on the sidelines of the conference, Minister Aurescu will present Romania’s strategic vision, assessments and approaches regarding the security situation in the vicinity of Ukraine and security developments in the Black Sea region, as well as our country’s efforts dedicated to strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence posture on the entire Eastern Flank, so that the international community can respond promptly and effectively to the aggressive actions of the Russian Federation, informs the MAE.
