Minister Cseke: We are improving energy efficiency for buildings, we certify new energy auditors

Published on

The Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration (MDLPA) is organising a new exam session for the certification of energy auditors for buildings, given that Romania is facing a deficit in this area, Minister Cseke Attila saidon Friday.

„We are organising, at the Ministry of Development, a new exam session in order to certify the energy auditors for buildings. Without an adequate number of certified auditors, buildings – apartment blocks, but also hospitals or schools – that require energy efficiency works cannot be audited,” Cseke is quoted as saying in a press release.

According to him, there is a shortage of energy auditors in Romania.

„In Ialomita County, there are four certified auditors, who can evaluate the energy efficiency of apartment blocks, and only one auditor for other buildings, such as hospitals, schools and public buildings, for which the Ministry of Development runs financing programs for energy efficiency, including from European funds. Giurgiu County is also in a similar state, with only one certified auditor who can audit energy only the apartment blocks, and two other auditors for any building. There is also a shortage of certified auditors in the counties of Alba, Bistri?a-Nasaud, Calarasi and Salaj.”

The calculation methodology, the national and European legislation on the energy performance of buildings have been substantially modified in recent years, and the certification process of this category of specialists has been suspended, so that eligible specialists can study the new methodologies for taking the certification exam.

At the last attestation session in 2021, out of the 148 scheduled candidates, 109 passed the exam.

Registrations for the new exam will be made on a digital platform made available by the Ministry of Development.

„In the first part of March, the ministry will publish, on its website, the announcement regarding the opening of registrations and the schedule for the certification exam. The verification of the candidates’ eligibility will be carried out by mid-April, and the list of eligible candidates will be published in the second half of the same month, and after 15 calendar days, the attestation exam will be organised,” said Cseke.
