Radu Miruță, Minister of National Defense and acting Minister of Transportation, denied on Sunday reports circulating online and in some media outlets claiming that six oil tankers on the EU/US sanctions lists had been operating in the port of Constanța.

“There is a lot of talk, and sometimes even more accusations. But the facts are stubborn and cannot be changed by any sensationalist headline. In recent hours, information has circulated claiming that six oil tankers on the EU/US sanctions lists were operating in the port of Constanța. The subject is a serious one; it is legitimate for it to be of public interest, but it deserves to be discussed based on facts, not speculation. There is only one truth: none of the six ships was on the European Union’s or the U.S.’s sanctions lists at the time they entered or left the port of Constanța,” Minister Radu Miruță wrote on Sunday in a Facebook post.

The acting Minister of Transport states, citing “official data received from state institutions,” that the ship DASHAN / MIANZIMU – last passed through the port of Constanța in August 2023 and was added to the sanctions list in 2024, while in the case of the vessel CELINE – its last passage through the port of Constanța was on October 14, 2023, and sanctions were imposed in October 2025.

He added that the vessel IRA / BELA – entered the port of Constanța on March 12, 2024, and departed on March 15, 2024, being included on the sanctions list in 2025, and the vessel CROCO / ARIA entered the port of Constanța in April 2025 and was subject to international sanctions on May 21, 2025.

He notes that the vessel SATNA – entered the port of Constanța on January 12, 2023, and sanctions were imposed in May 2025, and the vessel PAXMARIS – last passed through the port of Constanța on September 8, 2024, and was included on the sanctions list in May 2025.

“This is the actual chronology of events based on official data received from state institutions. A ship cannot be accused of violating sanctions that did not exist at the time it operated in a port. Facts and dates matter. Always,” Minister Miruță emphasized at the end of the post.
