The Minister of Agriculture, Florin Barbu, declared on Tuesday, in Craiova, at the opening of the local producers’ market „From here, from close by. From Oltenia”, encouraging local farmers, that he would like retail stores in Romania to „have only Romanian products”, according to a message posted on Facebook by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
„By accessing European funds, many capacities have been developed at the level of Dolj County and throughout Oltenia. I encourage you to continue supporting this pilot project, it is a successful project and we want to have only Romanian products in retail stores in Romania, because, as we know very well, we have products with established recipes, we have products with a clean label and of superior quality. This is what the Romanian producer does, that is why we need your support and always rely on the support of the Ministry of Agriculture,” declared Minister Florin Barbu, quoted in the post.
Florin Barbu visited on Tuesday the local producers’ fair „From here, close by. From Oltenia”, which takes place in the parking lot of the Carrefour hypermarket, within the Promenada Mall Craiova, between June 3-5.
The minister urged the event organizers to continue the partnership with Romanian farmers, which he considered a fair one, and to develop more programs to integrate Romanian producers into retail networks.
The fair is organized in partnership with Carrefour Romania and is a national premiere, with over 20 producers from Oltenia participating, the cited source mentions. The producers exhibit for sale a variety of local products, from meat, fish, cheese and dairy products, wine, to honey, bread, seasonal fruits and vegetables.
