The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu, announces the limitation of the number of Russian diplomats in the Republic of Moldova. The announcement was made during today’s meeting of the Government.

„In our opinion, it is very important that the diplomatic services of our country, but also of other countries, focus on the development of good relations, or when a good part of the diplomatic presence of another country is directed towards the efforts to destabilize our country and actions that do not belong to the standard methods of action of some diplomatic services, we reached, by common agreement with the institutions and political decision-makers, the need to limit the number of accredited diplomats from the Russian Federation in the Republic of Moldova, so as to create a situation in which are fewer individuals acting to destabilize the situation in our country. The representatives of the Russian Federation have been informed about this,” the minister said.

At this moment, the Russian Federation has 37 accredited diplomats and 34 „technical-administrative” employees in the embassy. In addition to the employees accredited in the embassy of the Russian Federation, there are 8 other Russian diplomats working within the Russian Center for Culture and Science (Rossotrudnicestvo) known as a propaganda office and some countries, including Romania, closing these centers.

Also, the Russian Federation has 5 more diplomats working in the Migration Bureau (Antechamber of the Consular Section of the Embassy of the Russian Federation) about them there is very little data, being extremely discreet in carrying out their activities, write deschide.md.
