Today, 18 June this year, the Paris Court of Appeal ordered the immediate surrender of Paul of Romania to the Romanian authorities, as part of the judicial proceedings carried out on the basis of cooperation between the competent authorities in Romania and France.
The ruling marks an important moment in this case and brings to an end a judicial procedure that has been underway for the past three years.
The French court’s decision represents a success for effective judicial cooperation between Romania and France, confirming the shared commitment of the two states to the application of the principles of the rule of law and compliance with the obligations assumed under European judicial cooperation mechanisms.
We note that the ruling handed down by the Paris Court of Appeal is not final at this time and that the above-mentioned individual is currently under judicial supervision.
