Minister Sorin Grindeanu declared on Thursday, in Craiova, that Romania will not lose a single euro from the PNRR for transport, because the value of the projects is about three times higher than the allocated amount, which is 7.5 billion euros.
„Of the approximately 30 billion euros that Romania has in the PNRR, grant and loan, roughly half, the Ministry of Transport has about a quarter, around 7.5 billion euros. When the PNRR was made, in those 7.5 billion euros projects of about 13 billion euros were introduced. Although the European Commission was asked to reduce them and make projects of 7 and a half billion as we have in the PNRR, they did not want to take this decision and projects of 13 billion euros remained. With the escalation of prices, these projects reached the value of 20 billion, although we have 7.5 billion for all types of transport. So there is no problem with the Ministry of Transport. We have 7.5 billion, which we will spend very quickly. Today, I think that about 3 billion euros has been spent in the whole country. Not a single euro will be lost on transport, because we have projects that amount to something three times higher than the amount we have”, Grindeanu said on Thursday.
The minister of Transport also stated that the metro in Cluj has that problem related to the manner in which the tender was held and which was not accepted by the European Commission.
