More than 60 localities in 21 counties affected by hydrometeorological hazards

As many as 65 localities in 21 counties were affected on Sunday by the forecast hydrometeorological hazards, with significant effects being recorded in Arad and Hunedoara counties, announced the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), write Agerpres

Firefighters intervened in Arad, Arges, Braila, Brasov, Buzau, Cluj, Constanta, Covasna, Dambovita, Giurgiu, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ilfov, Mures, Prahova, Sibiu, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea and Vrancea counties and in Bucharest municipality to evacuate water from 54 houses, 222 courtyards, 62 cellars, 3 basements of blocks of flats, 4 annexes, 5 premises of economic operators, on two streets, as well as for the clearing of 20 trees and two poles fallen on the road, damaging four cars.

In Arad county, 8 people were rescued – four were sheltered in the attic of houses in Buceava-Soimus, and another four were in a car that was swept into the water on DJ 708, between Gurahont and Buceava-Soimus.

„Also in Arad county, a person reported missing was found about 5 km from her home, with multiple traumas, deceased. Investigation bodies are verifying the conditions and circumstances in which this situation occurred,” IGSU said.

Another county where considerable effects have been recorded is Hunedoara, an area where, due to heavy rainfall, access to four localities (Aranies, Cerbal, Ulm and Valari) is not possible, says the source.

Because of the water and accumulated alluvium, road traffic has been blocked on several county roads. As for the electricity supply, there were failures in nine localities in Hunedoara and Vrancea counties.
