Save Romania Union (USR) will tell President Nicusor Dan at Wednesday’s consultaions that it is ready to participate in the formation of a „stable, credible and reformist” government.
In the context of the fiscal crisis, Romania needs „solutions, not embellishments”, Ionut Mosteanu, the leader of the USR MPs, told AGERPRES.
The USR proposals aim to reduce „useless” spending and stop the „waste” of public money, as well as to speed up the absorption of European funds and the „real” implementation of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
Save Romania Union also advocates for an economic environment where entrepreneurs are not „blocked by absurd bureaucracy”, but encouraged to innovate; for a state that works for its citizens and for a Romania firmly anchored in Europe, with a government „that counts at the decision-making table and that defends the democratic direction” of the country.
Ionut Mosteanu mentioned that the discussion about ministries is „premature” and that USR will not go to negotiations „with lists” of portfolios. He stressed that for USR the priority are the objectives and measures supported by the future government.
„We are not interested in positions, but in direction. It is time for the parties to talk seriously about measures, not about chairs. Romania needs a government that can deliver reforms, not a division of posts. Everything that has appeared in the press about „negotiated ministries” and „proposed people” is just gossip,” he said.
According to him, it is the Social Democratic Party (PSD)’s „choice” how it formulates its negotiating mandate and that this is a moment when every democratic party „must be open to negotiations and compromises”.
„Romanians have had enough of „red lines”, of instability, just as they have had enough of injustice and privileges. (…) For USR, it is important that these discussions are open, transparent and assumed. It is important that the discussions start from a reform plan. Romania no longer has time for political games. It needs seriousness, clarity and the courage to take tough but necessary decisions,” Mosteanu added.
President Nicusor Dan will hold a round of informal consultations with parliamentary parties and political organizations at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace on Wednesday.
