The government will approve the start of a multi-year program for the modernization and development of the customs infrastructure until 2030 with a budget of up to one billion RON, prime minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Thursday.
„We are establishing a National Center for Customs Imaging Analysis, which will analyze the scanned images. The customs systems will be interoperable with those of the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR) and the Border Police. Thus, the Customs will be able to combat fraud, tax evasion, smuggling and drug trafficking more efficiently,” stated Ciolacu, at the beginning of the government meeting.
At the same time, he announced a decision regarding the process of reorganization of the Ministry of Finance, the National Tax Management Authority (ANAF) and other governmental institutions under this ministry.
„I hope that at all the following meetings we will have two ministries that come up with the reorganization scheme so that we can complete the whole process by the end of the month, as we proposed,” added Marcel Ciolacu.
