National Bank: Non-governmental loan balance up 0.5pct in November

The balance of non-governmental loans granted by credit institutions increased in November 2024 by 0.5% compared to the previous month (0.1% in real terms), to the level of 418.154 billion RON, according to data published on Friday by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

Thus, loans denominated in RON, with a share of 70.2% in the total volume of non-governmental loans, increased by 0.7%, while loans in foreign currency expressed in RON, with a share of 29.8% in the total non-governmental loans, increased by 0.1% (similar evolution in the case of expressing the indicator in euros).

Compared to the same period of 2023, non-governmental loans increased by 8.8% (3.5% in real terms), due to the increase by 11.5% of the component in RON (6.1% in real terms) and by 3% of the component in foreign currency expressed in RON (2.9% in the case of expressing the indicator in euros).

The balance of government loans granted by credit institutions registered an advance in November 2024 of 1.9% compared to the previous month, exceeding 232.284 billion RON. Compared to November 2023, it increased by 19.4% (13.6% in real terms).

Broad money supply (M3) registered at the end of November 2024 a balance of 720.942 billion RON. It increased by 2% (1.6% in real terms) compared to October 2024, and compared to November 2023 it increased by 11.2% (5.8% in real terms).
