National Bank of Romania decides to maintain key interest rate at 6.5% per year

The Board of Directors of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) decided on Friday to maintain the monetary policy interest rate at the level of 6.5% per year, the central bank announced.

Also, the CA of the BNR decided to maintain the interest rate for the lending facility (Lombard) at 7.50 percent per annum and the interest rate for the deposit facility at 5.50 percent per annum and to maintain the current levels of the minimum reserve rates mandatory for liabilities in lei and in foreign currency of credit institutions.

This year, the central bank decided twice to lower the key interest rate, in July, from 7% per year to 6.75% per year, and in August to 6.5% per year. The key interest rate was unchanged from January 2023.
