The foreign exchange reserves of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) totaled 62.135 billion euros at the end of December 2024, up by 1.57% compared to the level of 61.174 billion euros recorded on November 30, 2024, respectively by 3 .96% compared to 59.770 billion euros on December 31 2023, informs a press release from the Central Bank sent to AGERPRES on Friday.
In December there were inflows of 7.601 billion euros, representing: the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency established by the credit institutions at the BNR; feeding the accounts of the Ministry of Finance; feeding the European Commission account and others.
There were also outflows of 6.640 billion euros, representing: the change in the minimum reserves in foreign currency constituted by the credit institutions at the BNR; installments and interest payments on account of public debt denominated in foreign currency and others.
The level of the gold reserve remained at 103.6 tonnes. Under the conditions of international price developments, its value stood at 8.356 billion euros, compared to 8.399 billion euros on November 30, 2024 and compared to 6.213 billion euros on December 31, 2023.
Romania’s international reserves (foreign currencies plus gold) on December 31, 2024 were 70.491 billion euros, compared to 69.573 billion euros on November 30, 2024 and 65.983 billion euros on December 31, 2023.
The payments due in January 2025 in the account of the public debt denominated in foreign currency, direct or guaranteed by the Ministry of Finance, amount to approximately 351 million euros.
