National Flag Day will be celebrated on Wednesday in Bucharest with a public ceremony in Flag Square (Piata Drapelului), also called Three Colors Square (Piata Tricolorului), in front of the Palace of the National Military Circle.

According to a press release from the National Defence Ministry (MApN) sent to AGERPRES, the ceremony in the capital will start at 10:00.

During the event, organized by the Ministry of National Defence together with the Prefect’s Office of the Capital and the Bucharest City Hall, the National Flag will be blessed by a military priest and will be hoisted on the flagpole in the square to the National Anthem of Romania.

Similar ceremonies will take place in the county capitals and in the localities in the country where there are military units.

National Flag Day was proclaimed by Law 96/1998 and is celebrated every year on June 26.
