Ukraine will send teams of anti-drone defense experts to Romania and the Baltic states. The announcement was made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday during a joint press conference with the NATO Secretary General, who stated that “Russia is becoming increasingly desperate,” according to realitatea.net.
According to the leader in Kyiv, the measure is intended to help these countries protect their territory against drone incursions launched by Russia against Ukraine.
“Preparations are underway, and dates have been set for our experts to go there and share their experience, as we have already done in the Middle East,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, referring to the military personnel Ukraine sent to Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries to help them shoot down Iranian drones.
For his part, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated on Wednesday, during a surprise visit to Kyiv, that Russia is “growing increasingly desperate” in the face of Ukraine, which “continues to stand firm” more than four years after the start of the Russian invasion, AFP reports.
“While Ukraine continues to stand firm, innovate, and achieve victories on the battlefield, Russia is becoming increasingly desperate,” the NATO chief said at a press conference alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Furthermore, he emphasized that Russia is suffering “considerable losses” and that its economy is “under serious pressure,” despite the easing of Western sanctions on its hydrocarbon exports.
At the same time, Mark Rutte stressed that the war, which began more than four years ago, “shows no signs of stopping.” Shortly after the press conference, an air raid siren sounded in the Ukrainian capital, AFP journalists noted.
The NATO leader made a point of noting that “he discussed how Ukraine is managing to turn the tide on the battlefield.”
“I believe Ukraine is achieving increasing success, both on the front lines and in ensuring that it can neutralize some of the key Russian capabilities necessary to continue the war,” the Alliance chief added.
