NATO’s military committee meets in Brussels

The main military authorities of NATO and the representatives of Finland and Sweden will meet on Wednesday and Thursday, at the headquarters of NATO in Brussels, for a meeting at the highest level of the Military Committee, according to Agerpres.

Deputy General Secretary Mircea Geoană will open the first session of the meeting together with Admiral Rob Bauer, President of the Military Committee, in the presence of General Christopher Cavoli, Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR), and General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander for transformation (SACT). Mircea Geoană will present the latest political objectives and will discuss with the military leaders of NATO about the security challenges facing the Alliance in the current global context, NATO informs in a press release.

The agenda of the meeting, to which Finland and Sweden were invited, will include a discussion about the war in Ukraine and the support given to Kiev, as well as an analysis of the security context in the Western Balkans, including from the perspective of the KFOR mission, which NATO is carrying it out in the region.

Also, the Allies will have the opportunity to discuss NATO’s implementation of the Concept for the deterrence and defense of the Euro-Atlantic area, as well as NATO’s capabilities and military capacity to defend the Alliance against all challenges , current and future – with emphasis on operations in multiple domains, digital transformation and strengthening the interoperability of allies.
