New registrations of passenger vehicles were 10 percent down in Q3 2022 compared to the same period of 2021, while the share of imported second-hand cars in total new registrations was 69.7 percent, down 2.5 percentage points year-over-year, shows data released on Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), according to Agerpres.
In a YoY comparison, moped and motorcycle registrations advanced 20.7 percent, bus and minibus registrations gained 11.5 percent, while passenger car registrations dropped 17.3 percent.
As far as new registrations of freight vehicles are concerned, there was a general downward trend with a decrease of 16 percent for trucks (special utility vehicles included), a 3.3 percent drop for trailers and semi-trailers, and a 2.5 percent decline for tractors.
At the end of Q3 2022, 59.2 percent of the road vehicles classified in accordance with the European emission standards registered in circulation in Romania were compliant with Euro 4, Euro 5 or Euro 6 standards, while 11.6 percent were compliant with the non-Euro pollution standard.
In the category of passenger cars, vehicles compliant with the Euro 4 standard account for the highest share – specifically 35 percent, in the category of buses and minibuses, most vehicles (25.2 percent) were Euro 3, in the category of mopeds and motorcycles, most vehicles (28.1 percent) were non-Euro.
In the truck category, Euro 3 vehicles make the majority with 29.5 percent, Euro 6 compliant vehicles are predominant in the tractor category (36.3 percent), while in the category of special utility road vehicles, most (25.1 percent) are non-Euro compliant.
