Nicolae Ciuca: Bucovina is one of Romania’s best-loved tourist destinations

Romania’s north-eastern region of Bucovina is one of the best-loved tourist destinations for both Romanians and foreigners, and we must make sure that we offer it perspectives for the present and the future, by facilitating access to European funding, as well as through the measures of the government program „Support for Romania”, Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca said in a message conveyed on Monday on the occasion of Bucovina Day, according to Agerpres.

„Today is the celebration of lovely and mellow Bucovina, which marks 104 years since the union of this historical province with the other Romanian territories on November 28, 1918, a moment all Romanians from Bucovina hold close to their hearts, and an important stage that contributed to the completion of the Romanian nation’s dream for unity, as the Greater Union was accomplished. Regardless of the changes history has brought to its destiny, Bucovina stands out as a land of traditions, cultural values, faith and beauty of nature, which are all intertwined with history, friendly coexistence and the exceptional hospitality of the locals,” Nicolae Ciuca notes.

The Prime Minister points out that thanks to its cultural and historical sites, traditional villages that are genuine open-air museums, and the beauty of its nature, Bucovina is „one of the best-loved tourist destinations for both Romanians and visitors from other countries.”

„I had many times the opportunity to visit and admire these places, and each time I appreciated their beauty, but also how welcoming and hard-working the people are and the solidarity they showed this year in the support actions for Ukraine refugees, among whom there were also many ethnic Romanians from the Bucovina across the border who were forced to flee the Russian military aggression,” Ciuca points out.

He adds that, as a Romanian and Prime Minister, he wishes for all this material, cultural, historical and human heritage to remain intact.
