Nicusor Dan asks sector mayors to mobilize sanitation operators to clean up streets and sidewalks

Published on

The General Mayor of the Capital, Nicusor Dan, asks the mayors of the sector to mobilize the sanitation operators to intervene on the side streets and sidewalks, considering that it will snow until Wednesday and drew attention that the Local Police crews are on the ground and will apply sanctions to the snow removal companies that do not clean the arteries and sidewalks of ice and snow.

He wrote, on Monday, on Facebook that there is a „Program of measures and actions for clearing snow and combating snow in the Municipality of Bucharest”, a regulation in which the obligations of snow clearing operators are clearly mentioned and he reminded that the arteries with public institutions, hospitals, educational institutions, etc. must be cleared as a priority.

„For several days there has been talk in the press about the money that the sanitation/snow removal companies receive from the sector municipalities as a waiting fee. Now it is snowing, and they should prove that they did not receive money for nothing. I saw that stocks of thousands of tons of anti-skid material were reported, so I asked the snow removal companies to report how much anti-skid material have consumed so far and what is the action plan for the next few days”, declared Nicuşor Dan.

The General Mayor of the Capital announced that the teams of the Administration of Lakes, Parks and Recreation of Bucharest have cleaned the main alleys in the parks, and the Bucharest Transport Society (STB) reports that action has been taken to remove the snow from the tramways, and STB employees have so far cleaned approximately 500 tram shelters.

Nicusor Dan stated that from Sunday evening the buses no longer travel on the tram track, but on the road, so as to prevent possible braking difficulties caused by slipping on the tram tracks. He pointed out that the measure is temporary and will be valid until Wednesday.

At the same time, he said that, considering that it is still very cold and snowy, the Municipality calls on the citizens of Bucharest to report any case of homeless people who need help, by calling the phone number 021.9524, available non-stop.
