President Nicusor Dan said on Monday that Romania’s foreign policy has had a good direction, albeit a „very low” intensity, mentioning that this direction must be maintained and „the intensity” must be increased.
„Romania’s foreign policy has had a good direction, but a very low intensity. We therefore need to maintain the direction and increase the intensity,” the newly-elected president said at the Palace of Parliament, after taking the oath of investiture.
He added that he would „very much” like to pay his first visit outside the country to the Republic of Moldova, but admitted that it „might” be to Brussels.
„I would very much like it to be in Chisinau, but it might be one in Brussels first,” said president Dan, when asked about these issues.
On relations with the US administration, Nicusor Dan mentioned that there are discussions underway through diplomatic channels and the public will be briefed at the appropriate time.
„There are discussions underway through diplomatic channels with the US administration. There are discussions on all diplomatic channels, because that is how it should be (…). There are diplomatic advances on which I will inform you when they are substantial,” president Nicusor Dan added.
