No genuine democracy in Romania today, new nomenclature, new Securitate, same positions, says Ludovic Orban

Chairman of the Forta Dreptei (Force of the Right) Party Ludovic Orban said on Thursday evening in Timisoara that there is no genuine democracy in Romania today because those who, according to the Proclamation of Timisoara, should have „completely disappeared” from the command buttons still hold the same positions, and the „new nomenclature and the new Securitate [communist-era secret police agency, editor’s note]” no longer use the iron fist, but much more refined instruments, trying to take the lion’s share of everything produced by people who work.

Ludovic Orban remarked in Timisoara that in the last two months there has been no more talk about the European Parliament elections and the challenges we face as a member state of the European Union, with discussions focusing on local elections and administration.

„For the last two months nothing has been said about the European Parliament, about what Romania’s representatives in the European Parliament have to do, absolutely nothing has been said about the challenges we have, as a country, within the European Union and, above all, about how we can make better use of the opportunities we have as an EU member state. They talk about local elections, about administrative issues. There is no genuine democracy in Romania today. Even if the Revolution in Timisoara won, it did not win completely, because the Proclamation of Timisoara was not put into practice and those who in the Proclamation of Timisoara should have completely disappeared from Romania’s command buttons have remained in charge of those buttons and we were led by the new nomenclature and the new securitate, who used exactly the same means; they no longer used the iron fist, but much more refined instruments to stifle any free person and prevent any kind of opposition, trying to take the lion’s share of everything produced by people who work, who have companies and liberal professions in Romania,” said the leader of the Forta Dreptei Party.

Ludovic Orban stressed that the United Right Alliance is not Save Romania Union (USR), nor the Forta Dreptei Party, nor the People’s Movement Party (PMP), but it is just the nucleus around which will gather all the people who want to live freely in Romania, who want an authentic democracy, those „who no longer want oppressors, masters to subdue them”, all the people who want to be respected, who want to be able to succeed in life by their own forces.
